Tools for Monitoring Social Media

Keeping track of what is happening on your social media accounts is far easier than you think.  Gone are the days when you need to log in to each and every account to see what is happening – developers have come up with a range of tools that can monitor the accounts on your behalf and let you know how effective your social media pages are.

TweetDeck

TweetDeck is the easy way to manage all of your Twitter pages at once.  One of the great things about TweetDeck – apart from it being completely free to download and very easy to use, is the fact that you can link multiple Twitter accounts to your one TweetDeck page. This means if you have a personal account and maybe one or two you use for business reasons, you can easily manage and monitor them all using this one app. You can choose what is shown on your dashboard and customize it so it works best for you.

TalkWalker

TalkWalker is an app that can alert you when certain keywords or brands (chosen by you) are mentioned on internet content, such as tweets, Facebook statuses and blogs. The data provided can help you see exactly what is currently on trend (or most popular at the moment). This way you can keep your product relevant to today’s market. One great feature is the world map. This can show you where the conversations about your product are originating. You might find it’s a bit slow in one country, while people in another country are raving about you!

Mention

Mention is an app that works in a similar way to TalkWalker but while this one has a fee, there is a 14 day free trial option. It is a replacement for Google Alerts and it is reported to get at least 50% more hits than TalkWalker does. It is real time monitoring so you can interact with customers’ queries, complaints and generally be more accessible to the potential clients out there. No matter your business, product or service, being able to keep on top of things this way can only help you grow and manage your business.

HootSuite

The Hootsuite app is great for those that use elements of social media as you can track all of your accounts in one place. This includes Twitter and Facebook, LinkedIn and MySpace, Foursquare and WordPress. You can track not only Twitter @mentions but also keywords and keep up to date with what people are saying about you and your business.

Putting one or two of these tools in place can help more easily manage your social media channels and brand.  This can help to make your social media marketing more efficient as the tools give you the means to carry out fast and easy analysis – something that is often underestimated by businesses today!
