Benefits of Using LinkedIn Business Pages

LinkedIn is arguably the social networking site of choice for professionals and businesses and it is also becoming a great place to promote your company and services.  However, there are still many businesses that have not yet realized the marketing potential of LinkedIn, with many choosing only to use it to create a personal profile.

Promote the whole business

A company page will focus on what the business does and not just on the achievements of individual employees.  While the majority of pages on LinkedIn are personal profiles, these will only briefly touch on the achievements of a company, if at all.  A company page can be used to update users and followers of what is happening within the business and that particular industry as a whole. When you create content it is automatically seen on the news feed of each follower and if they then click ‘like’ or ‘share’ it is available to their connections too, so you are instantly reaching a wider audience. Ensure the content is engaging and likes and shares will soon follow.

Link to employees

This is an automatic process in many ways. Once one of your employees adds your company name to their work experience section on their personal profile, this will automatically link to your company page. Anyone viewing their profile can then visit your company just by clicking on the name or the logo, making it easier for their connections and followers to find you.

Analytics

Analytics are available from LinkedIn so you can see just how well your updates are doing.  They will tell you just how many times the post has appeared to followers, the number of clicks that have been generated as a result as well as the number of likes shares and comments.  From here it is very easy to see which content is generating the most interest.  Analytics are not available on personal profile content, which is another reason why creating a LinkedIn business page is a good idea.

Notifications

LinkedIn business pages now benefit from notifications.  The business page admin(s) will get a notification when someone mentions the business when posting a personal status update on the site. As the user types the company name, there is a drop down menu which appears so the company can actually be tagged in the post.  Not only are you informed that someone has tagged the company, anyone reading the post can just follow that link to your company page.

Services

New showcase pages have replaced the ‘Products and Services’ section on the business pages. It means that individual services can be highlighted with their own page so you can promote individual features of your company.  The main company page can serve as a simple introduction or landing page while pointing followers in the direction of individual services.

Getting the most from your LinkedIn Business Page means that you need to ensure that you build your follower numbers.  This will be slow to start but by posting engaging content and constantly promoting your posts you should find that the numbers start to rise, making it easier for you to promote services and products as you need to.
