Top 5 Facebook Tips for Businesses

When you’re busy running a business it can be very easy to dismiss the potential that social media sites have and it can be even easier to let your social media presence fall by the wayside. Do you let your pages go weeks without a new post? Do you feel lost? So far we’ve covered tips for engaging audiences on Twitter, InstagramPinterest and Google+, and this month we’re going to cover the top 5 tips for utilizing Facebook.

  1. Don’t limit posting times to traditional business hours.  The beauty of social media is that you can reach your audience at any time, you just need to figure out the ideal time. When are your consumers online? Try posting at various times on different days and look for changes in engagement. You may find that 8-9pm at night is a great time to post content. Schedule your posts in advance so you don’t need to be at your computer at all different hours to post.  The blue “publish” button has a dropdown menu that will allow you the schedule future posts.
  2. Create a “Call to Action” button on your Facebook page. Located on the bottom right hand side of your cover image is a gray “Call to Action” button. You can easily customize this button to “Contact Us”, “Shop Now”, “Send Message”, etc. What action do you want your audience to perform? Customizing this button takes less than a minute.
  3. Don’t underestimate the power of images!  It has been proven that images have the highest engagement rates on Facebook (and most social media sites), much higher than text-only posts. Post pictures of your work, team, products, favorite quotes, etc. Mix it up and figure out which type of posts garner the highest engagement.
  4. Search for other businesses on Facebook that are aligned with yours and “like” them.  If you’re business is primarily B2B, search for other businesses that utilize your services and “like” them and then engage with their content. Get them to notice your business and hopefully they will “like” your page back. If your business is B2C, search for businesses that compliment your business and share your target demographic. Engage with their content and this will hopefully lead to their followers noticing your page.
  5. Utilize the tabs section on Facebook. In addition to showcasing your videos and photos, you can create new tabs that showcase your specials, newsletter sign up form, and more. On the Qdigitizing Facebook page we have a “Specials” tab that showcases special promotions.  A popular app to add new tabs is “Woobox”. Search for “Woobox” on Facebook and download the application to your page.

Facebook is constantly evolving in an effort to offer its audience the best experience possible and this includes businesses. Try out a few of the above tips and see if it helps improve your page’s engagement. Next month we will continue to explore Facebook and its marketing benefits for businesses.
