Important Update for Melco Design Shop Users

Hello Everybody…

I hope all of you had a great summer and are looking forward to a busy holiday season.  Here at Qdigitizing.com things are great and once again I would like to thank each of you for your continued support of our products and services.  We are gearing up for what we are certain will be a phenomenal end to an already great year.

Todays blog is specific to an important  sub-set of  our customer base.  For those of you working with Melco Design Shop software this blog is very important.  Please review this carefully as you need to be aware of an important change and how it impacts our ability to service your accounts most efficiently.

First of all it is very important for each of you to know which version of Design Shop you are running.  To do this open your software and click on the HELP menu bar selection and then choose “About Design Shop.”  A window will appear with your Version and Revision number.  In the example below I am running Design Shop Pro + Version 9, Revision 00.099.  Up until very recently this was the most current version of Melco software.

However, Melco has just released Version 9.00.101 and there are importnat implications for many of you.  In this newest version customers using Design Shop Version 6 and Version 7 will need to tell us when you palce your orders which version of Design Shop you are using.  There are some features in Design 9.00.101 that are not compatible with Version 6 and 7.  If we program a design for you using version 9.00.101 all of your Object Elements will be colorized properly and look like OFM files but the stitches will be expanded instead of wire frame objects.  Some of you might not care, but for those of you who do…it is very important for you to understand this change.  We can still provide you the files you love and are familiar with but you will need to tell us the version of Melco Software you are working with.  I know I am being redundant but this is very important.

When you place your orders be it on our web site or through email you MUST LET US KNOW if you are still using an older version of Design Shop Software.  If you are usng an oder version we will also use one of our older systems to program your design so you are not impacted by this change.  If you want, you can also email us proactively and we will annotate your account settings to default to a specifc version of Melco software.

Melco is recommending that custmers using older versions of software contact them to upgrade to version 9.00.101.  The price to do this will vary dependng on the level of software and a particular feature set you might be working with but if I can offer any advice it is this.  The new version of Design Shop software has many desireable features  and even though the older versions are great, the new stuff is even better.  If you are currently working in version 6 or 7 and you do a lot of programming or editing you will appreciate the features in the new software.

For our part Qdigitzing will continue to support the older versions as long as we have customers using the software.  However, please understand it will be up to you to communicate with us as to your version requirements.  Once a design has been digitized in 9.00.101 we cannot go backwards in version.  Because of this we hope you will understand why it is critically important that moving forward you let us know your Melco Software version.

If you have any question please do not hesitate to call.  This is a “Steve” question though so if you get Flora please make sure to ask for me.

I look forward to hearing from you soon.  If any of you have suggestions for topics you would like me to address please send me your suggestions here or to my personal email steve.freeman@qdigitizing.com.  And don’t forget to follow us Facebaook and Twitter.  HINT – HINT.  Good savings on FB this month!

Take Care,

Steve Freeman
